Summer Projects are Here
Summer is here
Let’s all cheer
For now there is time to play
And more sunny hours in each day
If looking for a project to do
We have some ideas to make you coo
A couple of hours with paper and paste
You can complete your task with much haste
And create a finished look
That is unique and not by-the-book
So listen up and start your plan
You will have more fun than baking flan
Summer is a time for relaxation and regrouping. What better way to get a new perspective on life and your surroundings than to take on a simple easy-to-complete decorating project. And, do we have ideas for you. The month of July will be devoted to ways to make a big difference with minimal effort. For example, take a wallpaper border such as the one featured below and make drink coasters by adhering the border to a cork background and then applying a coat of varnish.
Or, create myriad new looks for your pictures by adding wallpaper mats. Grasscloth is particularly suited to this application. See some examples below.
Produce exciting tile plaques by just affixing wallpaper cutouts to individual tiles. Choose a wallpaper with words or cut out your own letters and add them on top of the paper. Seal it with a good varnish.
One of my favorite fast projects is to use wallpaper to create shopping bags to present as gift bags or use as your own personal fashion statement.
A great community project is to paper the neighborhood dumpster as in these examples below created by the artist Findley who is papering dumpsters around the world.
All in all this could shape up as one exciting summer–one in which you exercise your creative side and make a positive change in your immediate space but also perhaps in your community space as well. Wishing you a joyous July.
