You’ve probably noticed that wallpaper has made quite a comeback in recent years (heck, we have a blog about it), and maybe you’re asking yourself…why?
Well, there are many reasons. It’s so much more stylish than it was twenty years ago. It’s sophisticated and exciting, and it’s not limited to the ‘fancy’ rooms in your house. Just because grandma covered her walls in giant velvet patterns, doesn’t mean that your papered walls will look that way too!
More importantly, wallpaper is going green. Today’s hottest wallcovering trend is grasscloth, which is naturally eco-friendly. Grasscloth comes in literally thousands of textures because it’s made from a wide variety of natural fibers like jute, seagrass, rush, boodle, sisal, arrowroot, bamboo, cattail and hemp. Plus lots of options are low-chemical, vinyl-free and gathered from sustainable resources.
Paste some grasscloth on your walls with a low VOC adhesive, and you’ve got beautiful finish with a small footprint!
Here are some magnified images of jute, sisal and seagrass wallpaper…each has it’s own distinct texture. What a simple way to bring the outdoor, natural world in!
